For many people, drug testing at their place of work or in some other important aspect of their lives is the deciding factor whether or not they use cannabis products. I know a lot of people who would smoke hemp on a daily basis if they weren’t drug tested at work. Many individuals are wondering if they can smoke this chemically similar version of THC and still keep their jobs as the HHC movement takes off. Is it possible for a drug test to identify HHC in the same way that it detects Delta-9 THC? Let’s see what happens.
HHC Drug Testing
Standard urine tests are employed to determine cannabis use ranging from 1 to 45 days in length. Users who use the product only occasionally will be clean in 1-5 days, regular light users will require 1-3 weeks, while regular usage heavy users will require 4-6 weeks to fully cleanse their bodies of HHC in their system. Urine tests do not detect the THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) in cannabis, but they do look for metabolites produced by the human body when we come into contact with THC. THC-COOH is the name given to this class of compounds. These metabolites are inactive, thus drug tests only assess exposure; they do not determine impairment. Marijuana’s impairment has not yet been detected by any kind of test.
The second THC metabolite produced in our bodies, following hydoxy-THC, is formed immediately after intake. The detection of THC-COOH in fat cells will last longer because it is lipophilic, which means it sits in our fat cells and may be detected in our systems for much longer than other chemicals that are water soluble.
According to limited animal study evidence, HHC is metabolized into chemicals similar to THC-COOH, but the metabolites produced by them: 8alpha-hydroxy-HHC and 8beta-hydroxy-HHC. If HHC is changed to 8alpha-hydroxy-HHC in the mouse, and then to 8beta-hydroxy-HHC, it’s probable that this substance will become a somewhat distinct metabolite in humans. Therefore it is difficult to know for sure which effects THC metabolites have in adult human users of HHC.
More research needs to be conducted on HHC drug testing, using a uniform HHC drug screen, collection of HHC drug test Reddit data, and more measures in order to standardize findings in the future. Currently, there is not a standard HHC weed drug test available on the market. Will HHC fail a drug test? We know the answer now, though, we don’t know the “why”, yet.
According to anecdotal evidence and numerous first-hand accounts, it does not produce a positive test, but more research is to follow. However, even if HHC does not cause you to test positive, there is still a chance that your product may include traces of other chemicals, such as Delta 8 or Delta 9 THC, which will. If you’re undergoing a drug test and need to pass, it’s critical to avoid using cannabis products completely.
